Ok, this rant is going to be a bit lengthy. It's not really a rant, it's a convo I'm having on a website called Gaia. I'm talking with a Bible Thumper who is "civilly yelling" at me for having a store which sells Tarot readings.
Her: Ok, I'm only saying this to give you advice. I'm really not trying to put you down or trying to make you think I'm all better than you in ever shape, way, or form. Everybody makes mistakes and also sins. I'm just helping you out. Christian to christian...
Psychic Visions and Tarot Readings are totally against God's Word. The word of God clearly warns us to not practice such things:
Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them or be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God. (Leviticus 19:31)
As to the person who turns to mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people. (Leviticus 20:6)
There shall not be found among you anyone . . . who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens or a sorcerer, or one that casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord . . . . (Deuteronomy 18:10-12)
But the . . . unbelieving . . . the murderess, immoral persons and sorcerers . . . , their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone which is the second death. (Revelation 21:8 )
We can't tell our future or should never even try. God has our future in his hands and we can't see it until he shows it to us. Do you understand what I'm trying to say?
Again, I'm not telling you this to make you feel bad or to be rude. I just want to help you through Christ.
Me: I am sorry your faith is so threatened by lamanated colored cardboard and I am so sorry that the only thing you can read is the Bible. I say in my third post that I do not believe the cards can fortell the future and that I only choose to do this in fun.
I understand what the Bible says. My opinion on the Bible is that it is a book inspired by God and tainted by man.
I am sorry if my store has offended your faith, but I will not close it. You do not have to come to my store, you do not have to buy a tarot reading from me. All I ask is that you let me believe the way I wish to believe instead of forcing me to believe the way you believe.
I am a Christian. I believe in Christ. I do not believe the tarot cards have the power to fortell the future anymore than I believe in the Bible Code and it's ability to fortell the future.
Thank you for giving me your input. Please come back when you are a bit more openminded.
Her: I only gave you my input because thats the truth from the Bible. A Christian isn't just a person that believes in Christ. Being a Christian means to be reborn in Christ and have a one on one relationship with him that includes following in his footsteps of his teachings and Word. Those cards might not mean anything to you or even effect your relationship with Christ but what about everybody else? You might be having fun doing whatever it is in your store, but somebody else might actually take those cards seriously and think the wrong thing about them. To some and many... those cards could be all their hope in life. Where is the gospel and witnessing in that? We are here to live for Christ. He died on the cross for us to live in every way we can. (John 3:16) Its also said in the Bible that false teaching is wrong. Tarot cards can lead into different things such as witch craft and so on. 'You shall not have no other God before me.' (Exodus 20) How can we serve two Gods when there is only one? We can't. Jesus rather have us to be hot or cold than lukewarm. In other words... he rather us know about him and not believe (or) believe and follow his ways then for us to give ourselves the title of being a 'Christian' and not follow his teachings at all. (being lukewarm)
Everything I'm saying here is biblically true in the bible, the spirit, and my heart. I wouldn't be telling you these things if it wasn't true. Please understand that whatever I'm saying to you is not to make you feel bad or even doubtful in any way. I'm only trying to help you through the holy spirit. Also, I'm not saying that I'm perfect or even trying to express that. Everybody makes mistakes and sins including myself.
Me: From what you are saying, it's my fault if people believe the Tarot Cards because I have a store that sells the readings. I will tell you this. It is not my fault if they chose to believe in the cards. I did nothing to make them believe in the cards. It is their choice. It is their free will.
As I said before, I will not close my store. I am not responsible for what impact the cards have on other people. I am only responsible for the impact that the cards have on me. If you have a problem with my store, you do not have to visit it.
This will probably be an ongoing argument between this girl and me. Goddess, why cmust we deal with these people?
Not that I have anything against Bible Thumpers...
Just certain Bible Thumpers.

-pets her- I still love this discussion. It amuses me. And reminds me of this girl at my school, who started bawling about how i'm going to Hell when I tried explaining the difference between Magick and Magic to my friend. -shakes head- It's best just to smile, nod, and back away slowly.

One's spelled with a k, the other isn't! Seriously, though, I have no earthly clue.
